About us

Our vision is clear. Do one thing (make tarts) and do it well.

Co-founders Gareth Whitton and Catherine Way started Tarts Anon as a side-hustle, determined only to pass the time during Melbourne’s harsh COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. Gareth, a fine dining pastry chef of 18 years+ experience, was making tarts at home when word of his world-class tarts got out within the local neighbourhood. Within weeks, Tarts Anon was the cult lockdown at-home bakery on everyone’s lips. It wasn’t too long, though, before the concept outgrew the home kitchen, and with a few twists and turns, Tarts Anon founded its flagship location in Cremorne, Victoria from September 2021 to May 2025. Now located in Richmond since July 2025.

Tarts Anon is what happens when the world class, ex-head pastry chef of Dinner By Heston and guru of all things pastry makes some tarts for his neighbours during one of the world’s harshest COVID-19 lockdowns.

Our monthly menu of tarts changes monthly, whilst our Celebration Tarts and Catering menus are available year-round.
