Every pie is a gift from my grandma, passed down to my mom and aunt and then to me (Tarius the head baker). The pies are made from traditional recipes using "old-fashioned" ingredients. When my grandma was in her early 80s I asked her for her cinnamon roll recipe and as she recited, I wrote. These family favourites were part of my childhood where the smell of cinnamon baking takes me back to Grandma's kitchen.
Pie is a cultural icon in the USA. Every family will have a pie story or a pie opinion. Whether it's fruit pies versus cream pies, pumpkin pie versus sweet potato pie or Crisco versus butter, there's always a story.
