Our Story
C Care is a volunteer-led organisation that provides culturally appropriate food and friendship services across Melbourne's South Eastern suburbs. Our Caring Kitchen supports individuals to enjoy a healthy diet and maintain an independent lifestyle.

C Care is a well-established community organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, social isolation and other challenges within the community. With a strong focus on dignity, accessibility and care, C Care provides practical support services designed to help vulnerable members of the community live healthier, more connected lives.
The organisation experienced significant growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for community support services increased dramatically. In response, C Care expanded its service offering to provide a wider range of personalised programs tailored to the unique needs of the people it supports. Today, the organisation delivers a suite of practical and culturally sensitive services designed to make assistance easy to access while maintaining a strong sense of community connection.
At the heart of C Care’s work is a commitment to providing nourishing, culturally appropriate food to those who need it most. Meals are designed to be accessible, familiar and supportive of diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring recipients feel respected and comfortable with the food they receive. This approach recognises that food is not only essential for physical wellbeing but also plays an important role in cultural identity and emotional comfort.
Through its partnership with Cookaborough, C Care is now extending this support to older Australians receiving Support at Home (SaH) funding. This initiative allows eligible recipients to access meals through their home care packages while continuing to live independently in their own homes. By providing reliable access to prepared meals, C Care helps reduce the stress associated with meal planning and cooking, particularly for individuals who may have limited mobility, health challenges or reduced social support.
C Care’s services are largely delivered by a dedicated volunteer workforce, whose efforts help create a strong sense of compassion and community involvement. This volunteer-driven model allows the organisation to maintain a personal and supportive approach while reaching a large number of people across the community.
Beyond simply providing food, C Care aims to strengthen connections and foster a sense of belonging for those it serves. Every meal delivered represents not only nourishment, but also the care of a community working together to support one another.
By partnering with Cookaborough, C Care is helping ensure that Support at Home recipients have access to nutritious meals that respect cultural needs, promote independence and contribute to improved wellbeing.
