About Black Ant Gourmet

Jodie Williams and Brett Gowley started free-range farming in Cooroy for themselves with neighbours their first customers. As their small, family-run catering and manufacturing business grew, they decided to combine their passions for food and sustainable farming to create Black Ant Gourmet @ Kin Kin General Store and Mayan Farm.

Black Ant Gourmet @ Kin Kin General Store

With more than 100 years and six generations of history in the Sunshine Coast, Noosa Shire “local” Jodie and her partner Brett made the move to Kin Kin in 2009, establishing Mayan Farm.

In 2012 they began work on restoring the Kin Kin General Store – which had been idle for many years – to accommodate their growing business and offer services to the local community, including a general store and post office. Brett put his experience as a shop-fitter to great use in transforming the old store into a fabulous dining and entertaining space.

Jodie, a qualified chef, has more than 30 years experience and Black Ant Gourmet Catering works at many functions and exclusive events around the Sunshine Coast region providing set menu banquets, casual canapés and spectacular grazing long lunches.

Today Black Ant Gourmet @ Kin Kin General Store employs 18 staff and provides customers with a range of options for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week, wood-fired pizzas every Friday evening, Black Ant BBQ Buffet each Sunday and chef’s specials most days.

The Black Ant Gourmet range of takeaway meals, dips and condiments use as many locally grown ingredients as possible and Mayan Farm’s home-grown pasture raised beef and pork are menu features.

As a chef, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to source fresh produce direct from local markets, trawlers and farms. Having our own farm is fundamental to our supply chain between the food on the table at Kin Kin General Store and Black Ant Catering and all part of our farm to plate philosophy. – Owner and Chef, Jodie Williams
